Dos Colibrís was born from the intersection of film, mexican sign language interpretation and music. Our first documentary short film, Chicán, about Mayan Sign Language, marks the beginning of a journey that is committed to a type of cinema where language is not only heard or seen, but also experienced.

A journey into the contemporary Mayan world through the eyes of the community of Chicán, Mexico.
This short film emerges from wonder and from respect. From observing how, in Chicán, hands speak freely, and how hearing bodies learn to listen beyond the ear. The film is conceived as an act of accompaniment: a way of looking without imposing, of allowing the community to reveal that another way of living together already exists.
I first encountered Chicán as a murmur carried by hands. A place where sign language is neither accommodation nor exception, but an integral part of everyday life. From the moment I learned of its existence, I felt drawn to a community where Deaf and hearing people share the world through gesture, gaze, and a silence held in common.
